Spotlight Sundays: Pink Panda’s Prints

Every month I want to be able to showcase one amazing blogger and/or business owner on Confessions of a Scorpio. Being a new blogger, the art of networking with the people in the community is one of the biggest skills to have in order to be successful. I’ve realized how much hard work simply being a blogger is that I am in amazement of fellow bloggers and business owners from their start-up to where they are now. It drives nothing but motivation and inspiration to push forward to be successful as a writer.

Having said that, I’m pleased to announce my first ‘Spotlight Sundays’ story with you today! I’ve recently teamed up with Amanda, owner of Pink Panda’s Prints to do an exclusive meet and greet about her and her shop. I first took notice of her shop on Instagram by her colorful prints and her shop name. Pink Panda’s Prints is a customized print shop located in Ontario, Canada. With around 400 sales and all 5 star reviews I was lucky enough to grab some time with Amanda for collaboration. Make sure you take the time to check out her shop! With prints ranging from $12-$20 CND, it’s definitely worth the visit.

Q) Tell us about yourself
I’m Amanda. I’m an educator, wife and mom to my Bullmastiff Lucy. She keeps me on my toes and is the (other) love of my life.

Q) Tell us about your shop
Pink Panda’s Prints is a home based business and is something that I do on the side. I make custom and personalized prints for all occasions including baby, children, birthdays, home decor, wedding and much more. I sell my items through Etsy at the moment, but would love to have my own site one day or even my own store location…for now that’s just a dream goal. I’ve just made my 1 year anniversary with my shop! It’s hard to believe a year has already gone by.

Q) How did you come up with the name of your shop?
Coming up with the name of my business was surprisingly one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever had to make. My favorite color is pink, my nickname is Panda and I make prints. I put it together and it just sounded right!

Q) What inspired you?
I’ve always had a passion and pull for art. I always thought I would go into animation or something art related. I went in a different direction and work full time with children.

Q) What do you do to increase motivation and come up with ideas
Any kind of art grabs my attention, including digital. One of my closest friends had just had a baby and I wanted to give her something meaningful that she would love. I thought what could be better than taking such an important moment/milestone and making it into something that could be kept forever. I then made my first birth stat print and from there everything spiraled.

I like to use elements from current things that are trending for my prints and put my own spin on it. For example, pink and gold is a trending colour combination for girls right now, whether it’s wall art or party decor. I’m inspired by many elements that surround me, whether it’s the sound of the lake, tree’s rustling, or the love I have for my dog — nothing is off limits for inspiration.

Q) what custom design/print are you most proud of
I can honestly say I’m not proud of just one print, I’m proud of them all. There’s more than just a quote on a page. It’s the design element, placement and what makes it unique. I take pride in not making a product, but an expression of what represents ones self and style.

Q) as a self invested shop, what struggles do you face and how do you over come it
Opening and running my own business is all new to me and I’m learning as I go. That in itself can be trying at times, but I’m loving every minute of it.

Q) have you ever dealt with an unpleasent situation regarding any of your orders/customers? how did you deal with it
In the past year not only have I learned so much, I’ve had some amazing customers. I strive to make every customer 100% satisified but If for some reason someone is not, I will do my best to find a solution.

Q) what are you looking forward to for the rest of 2016
I’m looking forward to what 2016 has to offer. I’m hoping to learn much more and expand my knowledge on digital design. I plan on adding new items to the shop on a regular basis, along with new designs and possibly even more options to choose from.

Q) What advice would you give someone who wants to set up their own business?
My advice to anyone opening their own business is to go for it. Fulfill your dreams and live out your goals. Take one day at a time when opening your business but try not to bite off more than you can chew. Follow your instincts and be prepared to put in your time. A new business is much like a new baby that you need to nurture and care for. With time, hard work and love, hopefully your business will grow to what you had imagined and hoped for.

And now for a surprise…

Amanda has also been generous enough to collaborate with me to do a GIVEAWAY. One selected winner will be able to win any 1 8×10 print. You will be able to choose one from the shop or customize your own! Giveaway will be running from March 13th – 16th and the Winner will be announced on the 18th! GOOD LUCK!

One advantage of this digital age is giving broader possibilities of making a living. This generation got an ability to start making ones passion a business without compensating good and quality with our children.
