Whenever you get the chance in life to travel, you should always go for it. There’s just no other way to experience new things and immerse yourself in another culture quite like visiting a place and living it for yourself. Every destination will have it’s perks, but there are certain kinds of holidays that everyone should aim to experience at least once in their lives. If you’re on the lookout for places to go on your next holiday (and want to make it an extra special one) or are just looking for incredible places to jot down on your bucket list, here are three destinations to consider.
Considered ‘the perfect destination’, St Lucia in Jamaica is a tropical paradise of white sandy beaches and clear blue seas. Featuring palm-fringed beaches, miles of unspoiled rainforest and stunning mountains- when you think of ‘once in a lifetime trip’ this probably sums it up pretty nicely. You can go snorkelling, ride horses on the beach or take to the seas on a luxury yacht. But not just scenic views, St Lucia is steeped in culture too. Visit Gros Islet to the north of the island, where every Friday a vibrant street party is held. Laborie is a village to the west where you can visit markets, explore the streets and sample the local cuisine.
Colorado: For a Winter Wonderland
If you’ve always opted to visit sunnier climes on your travels, why not try something new? Experience a spectacular winter wonderland instead. Picture the views from on top of snowy mountains, the twinkling lights of the town in the distance and a magical ‘Christmas all year round’ kind of experience. At the base of Vail mountain in Colorado sits the incredible Vail ski resort, hire some gear from Vail ski and bike rentals and head up the mountains for the gorgeous views at the top. For more astounding scenery you could take a trip to one of Colorado’s four national parks, or visit one of their eight national monuments. It really is a destination not to be missed.
Rome: For History and Culture
For something different entirely, Rome is fantastic city break with plenty of opportunity to go exploring. It is one of the oldest continually occupied sites in europe, giving it a rich and fascinating history. A real active walking holiday, Rome gives you plenty of sightseeing opportunities with it’s awesome contrast between ancient and modern. There are views of remarkable looking buildings and ruins, art galleries, tours and other attractions to cram into your trip. Just north of the city centre is the world famous Vatican City, which is of course home to the Pope. It features some of the world’s most interesting museums, containing centuries of works created by the Popes of history. These include classical sculptures and some of the most important pieces of renaissance art in the world.
So there you have it, three very different destinations each with amazing things to do and see. Where are your favourite places to go?
