We can all get a little complacent with our skin care sometimes. We either stick with the methods we have done for years. Or neglect our skin in some way. We can all be guilty of it. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t take a stand at some point and change things a little. After all, our skin is the first sign of how old we are. So it’s vital to keep it looking younger. We’ll be thankful of a youthful complexion as we get older.
So how do we go about taking care of our skin more? With a few changes here and there and some extra attention to new habits, you can go a long way to revamping your skin care. So without further ado here are my top tips to help you do that.
Avoid ageing skin with sunscreen
The biggest sign of ageing is wrinkles and dark spots that can develop on our skin A lot of that is caused by skin damage from the sun and UV rays. This is why celebrities like Jennifer Lopez swear by applying sunscreen daily. Using a high SPF cream on all your skin, not just your face, will protect it from sun damage and keep your skin looking youthful for longer. Thankfully, if you prefer to wear makeup a lot more, then some foundations and BB Creams have a built in SPF protection. While you won’t see the results of this straight away, over time and in the future you will be much happier with your overall skin condition.
Drink plenty of water
As we all know, I’m the worst when it comes to drinking water but water is a great way to improve your skin’s tone and look. It’s a natural detox that can rid your body of nasty toxins. Many people don’t drink as much water as they should. The recommended amount is two litres a day. Drinking plenty of water can plump up your skin, giving it a cleaner and fresher look. A lot of women claim that having regularly drank water for a few weeks they can visibly see the difference. This is one of those skin care tips you won’t want to avoid.
Make more of indulgent pampering sessions
We all love the opportunity of pampering sessions, but I can honestly say that most of us won’t do it as often as we should. This means having some allotted time to do those more in depth treatments for our skin. This is where face masks can be done. Lot’s of people do these once a week. Many give your skin that deep clean feeling and allows you to draw out any hidden dirt in your pores. It’s always worth spending some time on this. If you have the chance, why not perform a mini facial. These can be of great benefit to your skin. Some people think you only have to go to a spa to get that feeling. But some facials can be performed at home perfectly offering similar or even better results. Don’t miss out on your chance. Exfoliating is another thing people don’t do as often as they should. But this gives you the chance to remove any dead skin cells from your face and body. Allowing new skin to come through. This is essential if you apply a fake tan at some point.
Have a consistent routine of skin care
Many of us can get quite flippant with our skin care. Perhaps even performing the deadliest of sins and not removing our makeup at night. Admit it; we have all been there, haven’t we? But a consistent routine is key to good skin care and your overall look. Your skin is the base of everything, so looking after it is vital. It doesn’t have to be anything too complex. A decent skin care routine can be as simple as a cleansing facial wash and application of a hydrating moisturizer. I think it’s safe to say that even in the busiest of lives we can all stick to that. However, some people may want to think about a separate more in-depth routine at night. Even by just using a specific night cream can make a huge difference to your skin and your overall routine.
Be more active
Being active can have a great effect on your skin condition and looks. Of course, the obvious thing would be affecting your fitness. But muscle tone and activity can help tighten your skin. Making it more durable and healthy looking. If we are feeling fit and healthy, then that can be shown through our skin. So make the most of it and get exercising. Also getting your “sweat on” may sound less attractive than what you are wanting. But opening up your sweat glands could help remove dirt and grime that blocks up some pores. No one can knock the glow your skin will radiate if you are full of energy and a zest for life.
Get more sleep
Lack of sleep can have a huge effect on our skin’s appearance. So why wouldn’t we want to get more sleep? It’s simple, large swellings and dark circles around the eyes isn’t attractive. Plus while you sleep is when your skin cells tend to repair and rejuvenate themselves. Getting more sleep has huge benefits to you, so hit the bedroom earlier if you can. If you struggle sleeping sometimes making simple changes to your bedtime routine can make a huge difference. Using less technology and reducing the amount of caffeine you drink (which can also affect how your skin looks) is a good place to start.
Have a healthy balance diet
Finally, the food we eat can be a big portion of how our skin looks. Eating too much junk food or fatty foods can make our skin appear greasy and spotty. Which is the last thing we want. Making sure you get a good dose of fruit and vegetables in your diet is always recommended. This provides you body with all the nutrients and vitamins to take care of your skin and give a healthy glow.
