How To Look Incredible This Holiday Season

Over the holiday season, there’s a lot of pressure to get things done. Buying gifts, seeing all your friends and family, cooking a lot of Christmas food – and of course, chances are you’ll have a lot of parties to attend! And you probably feel like you’d like to look your best at them. Here are four top tips on how to look good this winter.

Eat Well Over Winter

A lot of us end up gaining a few pounds over the winter. You often don’t tend to bare as much flesh as you do over the summer, and if you’re swathed in cozy sweaters and scarves then it’s easy to let yourself gain some weight – especially when there’s a lot of delicious Christmas food on offer! But there are things you can do to keep yourself at your pre-winter weight. Indulge in your favourite foods, but make sure you eat them in moderation and that you don’t snack between meal times.

What I also love to do is drink cleansing and detox teas. I usually start my mornings with a cup Skinny Coffee Club as it does help with feeling bloated and keep me energized for the morning. Then throughout the day I just sip on some tea or mint and water. Having anxiety, drinking too much caffeine can kill my mind at night.

Happy Body Tea was nice enough to give me some of their cleaning and detox tea to help me survive this holiday season. Since I work mainly from home now as a Virtual Assistant it’s often hard to keep track of my diet (believe it or not) and I’m constantly sitting. So I sip the detox tea during the day and at night, I sip on the night time detox tea to help cleanse my system while I sleep!

Be Prepared For Holiday Parties

It’s a good idea to be prepared for any parties you might be invited to, so you don’t end up looking frantically through your closet and feeling like you don’t have anything to wear! At the start of December, look through your clothes for any pieces that you might have forgotten about, or you look online for women’s special occasion dresses. That means that if you’re suddenly invited to a party then you won’t have any problems figuring out what to wear!

One of the best accessories that I own is my KJCouture waist trainer. I often wear it especially when I’m out partying and I know I’ll have to slip into something tight. Other than that, wearing it almost everyday has helped shaped my body into forming the shape I want it to be. Although it is recommended to wear your waist trainer all day everyday, once you get your desired look you can start to wear the trainer for a few hours daily. You know your body best. KJCouture also provides some tips and tricks on how to use your new accessory and how to maintain the body you want.

Keep Up With Your Skincare

Winter can be super harsh on everyone’s skin – especially when you reside in North America. I, on the other hand, live in Canada where the winter winds can be rough on the face. No matter how ‘ covered up’ you make yourself be, once you step outside your door it’s another story. The fact that it’s winter doesn’t mean that you should stop taking care of your skin. Admittedly this time of year it’s more of a battle to keep it hydrated and clear, but you should still make the effort to look and feel good.

Make sure you switch to a more intense, creamy moisturizer with a high SPF, and use night and eye cream before you go to bed. You could start cleansing with oil, which won’t strip any natural oils from your skin like some foaming cleansers do. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity with some amazing products to help keep my skin healthy and nice this winter.

Nudu Natural Beauty has sent me a gift box filled with amazing products to use. Nudu contains no parabens, no harsh preservatives, no peroxides and more. The best part is that they don’t test on animals and are GMO-free! They do contain antioxidants for powerful anti-aging defense and pure oils to reduce water loss (winter can easily dry out anyone’s skin)!

The cleanser smells amazing and removes dead skin cells while the moisturizer enhances elasticity with collagen. The cleansing & exfoliating sponge is made from organic konjac vegetable and when I first saw it, I thought it was the cutest thing.

You can also keep your skin looking glowing and healthy by investing in a good highlighter, which you can put on your cheekbones, brow bones, the tip of your nose and the bow of your lips. Keep moisturizing your lips and using a good lip balm so they don’t get too chapped. Lush is my favorite go-to for sugar scrubs. They’re incredibly useful for anyone who loves to wear matte lipsticks!

Purchase Three Key Pieces

At the start of a new season it’s always tempting to fill up your closet with new clothes. But it’s a good idea to make sure you only get what you need. A fashionable coat, new boots, and a nice sweater should keep you warm, even next winter too! Go for quality over this year’s trends so you can keep wearing them for a long time. Go for neutral colors and styles so they’ll go with absolutely any outfit.

It’s always important to look your best no matter the season as it helps boost your ego! On my previous post I discuss why looking good can improve your mentally. I also included a fashion bloggers round up to keep you inspired!

My skincare routine is so important during the holiday months and winter. I hate when my skin feels dry, so I’m always looking for a great facial product. Gonna have to look into your suggestions. Thank you!

I love these tips, but one more idea would be to try a rental service. Instead of buying a new coat and sweater/dresses, I just rent them! It’s fun to mix it up a bit! I love your skin care tips. I am already starting to notice the changes from winter and need to get on top of it ASAP!

Great tips girl. I have a waist cincher but I’m not even sure if I can squeeze into it. I’ll definitely be wearing tons of cozy sweaters!

If it weren’t for pumpkin spice, I probably could eat well over winter! It’s something I seriously need to get over. Skincare is a must this time of year, especially for me with really dry skin!
