Things To See and Do on Your Trip To Texas

As America’s second biggest state (behind Alaska), Texas makes for a massively diverse and interesting destination to visit. The dramatic landscapes include everything from beaches to swamps to woods- plus the sheer size and variety really does make it almost like a country within itself. If you have ‘visit Texas’ on your travel bucket list for 2017, here are just a few of the incredible things you can see and do while you’re there.

Be Wowed By The Natural Bridge Caverns

The Natural Bridge Caverns are the largest caves in America; they feature several unique speleothems and other mind-boggling geological formations. There are a range of tours you can take to explore the caverns, see incredible sights and take pictures. There’s more to do while you’re there too, including explore a maze and witness another natural wonder- the bracken bat flight. You can also hunt for gems and fossils, an activity suitable for young and old alike.

Visit Big Bend National Park

For the most stunning landscape and views, and a chance to get outdoors and enjoy nature- a trip to Big Bend National Park is a must. You can explore Big Bend hiking trails, go on river trips, go bird watching and ride horses during the day. At night you can enjoy stargazing, and camping under the stars. At one time the park was a remote and seemingly inhospitable area which you could only reach by miles of dirt roads. However today, it’s one of the most popular vacation destinations in Texas. Roughly three hundred thousand visitors come to marvel at its beauty each year.

Discover Space Center Houston

You can’t visit Texas without stopping by at Houston’s famous space center. The center features more than four hundred fascinating space artifacts;  it is home to the world’s largest collection of moon rocks and lunar samples which are available for public view. There are both permanent and traveling exhibits you can explore, as well as attractions and theaters related to the future and past of America’s human spaceflight program. The experience will engage both adults and children and is a day out that you’re not going to forget in a hurry!.

Try The Incredible Food

Texas is known for going big with food, so foodies of the world will rejoice when visiting the state! Bordering with Mexico means there’s an amazing blend of American and Mexican (Tex-Mex) cuisine, essentially giving you the best of both worlds. Texas is also known for its barbecue food and is home to the iconic buffalo chicken. You could research the local food establishments around where you will be staying, and plan your big eats during the trip. You won’t be disappointed!
