They say you should always dress down and be comfortable on your flight. But, if you’re a lover of fashion, you probably don’t want a few hours in the air to cramp your style.
There is such a thing as being both comfortable and fashionable. If you have a long haul flight coming up, here are some top tips to help you survive and stay stylish.
Take a change of clothes
If you’re keen to impress at the airport, but you don’t want to attempt to sleep in leather trousers or skinny jeans, it’s always a good idea to take a change of clothes with you in your carry-on bag.
You can dress up for the airport, and then change into something a little more comfortable when you get on board, and you’re ready to kick back and relax. Fitted tracksuits are great if you’re visiting somewhere cooler and maxi dresses are an excellent option for warm weather destinations.
Opt for light fabrics, which don’t crease easily, such as cotton. Avoid trying to totter around in high heels. You may need to walk a far distance to the gate, so it’s best to opt for flats.
Take a scarf or throw an oversized cardigan over your top. The temperature can vary on board, and if you get cold, you’ll be able to wrap up and still look great.
Carry shades with you
Nothing hides a multitude of sleepless night related sins like a pair of chic sunglasses.
If you’re tired, and you’re not feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, pop on a pair of shades, and you’ll look and feel more fabulous in an instant.
Let your luggage do the talking
In day to day life, you probably choose which bag to wear very carefully. You want your tote, satchel or cross-body bag to complement your outfit perfectly.
Just because you’re traveling doesn’t mean that you can’t accessorize. Look out for a cute luggage set to top off your airport outfit in style. If you go for something unique, it will look fantastic, and there’s also no risk of getting confused with other people’s bags at the carousel.
Look after your skin
Flying can take its toll on your skin, and if your skin doesn’t glow, this can put pay to even the most glamorous get-up.
When you’re on board, make sure you drink plenty of water and remove your makeup with cleansing wipes before you go to sleep. Apply plenty of moisturizer. When you wake up, and you’re due to land soon, you can reapply your makeup, and your skin should look a lot brighter and fresher. Don’t forget to moisturize your hands as well.
