I’ve always tried to keep a balance and healthier lifestyle but moving back to be closer to my family has made it a little tough. Filipinos love their carbs and deep fried everything.
So when I decided to pave my way into the entrepreneur life, I was expecting to be able to go back into my healthier routine. Portioned cooked meals, more vegetables and less… rice. Nope. I found myself being more busy trying to build my business, run my blog while trying I also maintain a social life so that I don’t go insane.
I bought food that was easy to make and great for being on the go. Which meant, it wasn’t always the healthiest items on my shopping list. But the last thing on my mind is trying to spend hours at the grocery store.
So then came Hello Fresh.
Admittedly I was looking into something geared towards subscription type meals this but wasn’t sure if there was any that would ship to Canada. So when HelloFresh announced being available to Canadians, I had to jump on it.
HelloFresh provides farm fresh ingredients and Chef approved recipes delivered right to my doorstep.
The subscription allows me to craft and customize my own weekly meals with ease. If I needed to, I can also skip a week. I just need to log into my account before 11:59 EST the Wednesday before the next shipment.
Did I mention that the shipping is FREE?
The HelloFresh movement was created by Dominik and Thomas who decided to spend packing and delivering by hand 10 shopping bags to their friends and family. They had a mission to change the way we eat by providing access to the best ingredients and acquiring the understanding to craft their meals. I dig this.
One of the many things I love about HelloFresh (aside from that it provides fresh ingredients and free delivery) was the fact that all their recipes are geared to be prepped and ready to eat within 20-30 mins.
As we all know, time is everything.
Although each meal came with all the ingredients you need, I did have to make a slight adjustment in Garlic Lime Chicken meal because I don’t like cilantro. So instead, I improvised and switched it with cucumber – which luckily for me, was given to me from a client of mine who owns her own farm.
My meals are meant to be made for 2 people, so it’s definitely more than enough for one person (if you are planning on eating by yourself of course)! Since J is still currently residing in California, creating these meals for myself gave me plenty of leftovers for the day after.
There are also options to choose a family plan as well as a vegetarian plan.
Since I’ve personally haven’t chosen either of those two plans, I can’t really tell say what the portions would actually look like. But it is meant to feed a family of 4 and still a 2 person meal for vegetarians. Prices will range between $79.99 – 129.99 cnd for 3 meals. (Each plan contains 3 meals for the week).
But… luckily for you, I’m giving you $40 off your first 2 boxes!
I honestly enjoyed the meals and would love for you to try out HelloFresh and have a taste yourself! September is approaching real fast and we all know how busy it’s going to get. So this would be the perfect opportunity to enjoy a meal yourself or with your family without spending hours in the kitchen or at the grocery store!
